2024 Boston Private
Industry Council Interns
The Boston Private Industry Council – also known as the PIC – is the
city’s workforce development board, appointed by Mayor Michelle Wu,
and its school-to-career intermediary organization. As a non-pro昀椀t, the
PIC works with companies and priority populations to create summer
employment opportunities for Boston public high school students to
explore future career paths.
This past summer, we partnered once again with the Boston Private
Industry Council (PIC) and the Boston Society for Architecture for their
Summer Internship program, welcoming Kevin Tan and Sophia Barros
to our Design Collaborative for a transformative six-week internship
experience.
Kevin and Sophia engaged deeply with Bergmeyer’s resources
and advanced design tools. They collaborated on dynamic design
challenges, including reimagining spaces for a community-driven
restaurant and a commercial lobby, and contributed fresh, innovative
ideas to our projects.
Under the mentorship of Bergmeyer’s Director of Education and
Training, Bill Spaulding, and our skilled sta昀昀, Kevin and Sophia developed
their talents, from research to presentation. Their dedication and unique
perspectives enriched our teams, and their high-level presentations
were a testament to their hard work and creativity.
We look forward to participating in the PIC program again in 2025.
