2024-Bergmeyer-CSRReport - Flipbook - Page 5
Introduction
As Rachel mentions in her introductory letter, in April 2024 Bergmeyer became a State of
Massachusetts Bene昀椀t Corporation, a legal designation recognized by the state of MA, where
Bergmeyer is Incorporated, that demonstrates how a company meets high standards for social
and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. And on September 26th,
we took 昀椀nal steps in a multi-year process to join a growing community of change-makers by
achieving Certi昀椀ed B Corporation (B Corp) status.
This year’s CSR report begins the process of measuring our public bene昀椀t activities against
the 昀椀ve B Corp Impact Area framework of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment,
and Customers. Within this framework we are developing goals for continuous improvement.
These goals and commitments echo throughout our company’s mission in a number of ways
including:
Creating Opportunities – Bergmeyer has a long tradition of engaging in workforce training,
scholarship and internship programs, and we are committed to creating opportunities for
both emerging professionals and students from underserved communities.
Strengthening Communities – Central to Bergmeyer's culture is a commitment to
volunteerism, and many of us at Bergmeyer use our skills as creative professionals to
participate in the civic process, taking on positions of responsibility and leadership to help
foster sustainable communities.
Supporting Organizations – Bergmeyer is dedicated to sharing our design abilities and our
pro昀椀ts with a variety of organizations and causes, through pro bono work and by making
annual donations to a myriad of charitable organizations aligned with our mission.
Environmental Stewardship – Our practice includes a wide variety of project types with
varying commitments to sustainability, and as a B Corp we take environmental stewardship
into all our design decisions and recommendations. We are dedicated to a program of
continuous environmental improvements.
Bergmeyer’s commitments to fairness, justice, equity, diversity, and environmental
responsibility remain as foundational building blocks that make up our interdisciplinary design
collaborative. As you will see in this report, our greatest creative and problem-solving strengths
are found in the people who make up our team.
