Emily Pereira
Interior Designer
BSA, Kindergarten Classroom Visits / KidsBuild!
I volunteer with the Boston Society for Architecture (BSA) to support early design education and
community engagement. Through the BSA's Kindergarten Class Visits program, I help introduce
young students to architecture and design by leading interactive classroom activities that encourage
creativity, problem-solving, and spatial awareness. I also volunteer for the annual KidsBuild! event,
where I guide children and families through a hands-on building experience, helping them design
and construct their own model city while learning about the built environment. In both roles, I work
to make architecture approachable and engaging, fostering early curiosity, and inspiring the next
generation of designers.
IIDA New England, Community Engagement, Art Uncorked Co-Chair
I volunteer with the IIDA New England Community Engagement Committee, where I help create
opportunities for our design community to connect with and support local organizations. As a
co-chair for our annual Art Uncorked event, I lead planning e昀昀orts for this signature fundraiser,
which celebrates the intersection of art, design, and community impact. The event raises funds to
bene昀椀t Art in Giving, RAW Art Works, and ArtLifting—organizations that support art education and
empowerment for youth and underserved artists. In my role, I coordinate artist and sponsor outreach,
oversee the collection of artwork and ra昀툀e items, and manage event logistics to ensure a seamless
experience for attendees and partners. Through this work, I help foster connections within our
industry while supporting organizations making a di昀昀erence through art.
Last Hope K9, Foster & Volunteer
I volunteer and foster with Last Hope K9 Rescue, a nonpro昀椀t organization dedicated to saving
homeless and at-risk dogs. The dogs I foster primarily come from high-kill shelters in Central
Arkansas, including the Greater Little Rock area, where shelters are often overwhelmed with stray
and surrendered dogs. As a foster, I provide temporary care in my home, helping dogs adjust to life
outside of the shelter environment and preparing them for adoption. My responsibilities include basic
training, socialization, and attending adoption events to support the dog's transition into a permanent
home. Additionally, I assist with volunteer activities such as transport coordination, event support,
and social media. Through this work, I contribute to the organization's mission of giving every dog
their well-deserved second chance at life.
